Urban Immersion

Are you interested in learning more about how your church or community based organization can take steps in engaging its neighborhood and neighbors in life-giving, transformative ways? Are you looking for meaningful service opportunities for your small group or youth group? Would you like this experience to be one that challenges, inspires, and pushes people outside of their comfort zones?
Community enCompass’ Urban Immersion offers a variety of different programs for church congregations and youth groups.
Our programs for youth groups are both challenging and fun, as we use games, speakers, and service work to expose youth to issues related to urban poverty. Throughout their Urban Immersion experience, the youth explore how they can respond to their experiences in a way that is informed by their faith. By practically applying the biblical call to practice "mutual love" (Hebrews 13:1), the Community enCompass invites neighbors in core city Muskegon to tell their own stories. Our hope is to leave youth empowered to "seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God" (Micah 6:8).
Experiences can be arranged for one half day, multiple days to one week. For more information, please contact us at info@communityencompass.org
Community enCompass’ Urban Immersion is also a valuable resource for members of church congregations that are considering outreach to address the needs in their own communities. Groups learn about the challenges, successes, and strategies of Community enCompass, while applying the lessons learned to their own contexts.
