Community enCompass is Recruiting

Fall Opportunities to Serve with Community enCompass

We are on a mission to help Muskegon’s neighborhoods flourish! Join with us as a force for change! Community enCompass is currently recruiting for three AmeriCorps State and National positions that provide one-year opportunities to serve and empower our neighbors.

These one-year commitments to national service provide a bi-weekly stipend with benefits, and require energetic, dedicated individuals committed to making a difference in our neighborhoods. A national service commitment is not a volunteer position, but a commitment to serve your community for one year with Community enCompass. This is not a guarantee of future employment with Community enCompass. However, it is an opportunity to be an integral part of our team for one year, while making a tremendous impact on the lives of our neighbors. Opportunities available are as follows:

YOUTH MENTORING – ALLEN AVENUE CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH – 1 POSITION AVAILABLE

If you have a passion for helping our youth succeed, then this is the opportunity for you! The youth mentoring AmeriCorps member will serve with Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church and Angell Neighbors for Change to guide and encourage core city youth.

In addition, you will help develop our community’s social capital by strengthening neighborhood connections between individual neighbors and the faith-based and social organizations which are a part of our community. Using Asset-Based Community Development, you will primarily focus on developing relationships with our core city youth through after-school programs, summer camps, and seasonal events throughout the year.

Start date is September 1, 2016. The deadline to apply is Monday, August 1, 2016.

HOUSING ASSESSMENT AND INCOME GENERATION – COMMUNITY ENCOMPASS – 2 POSITIONS AVAILABLE

If you have a passion to serve the underserved, then Community enCompass has two tremendous opportunities available for you to serve individuals struggling with housing stability.  Through Michigan’s Campaign to End Homelessness AmeriCorps program, one AmeriCorps member, serving as our Income Generation and Management Specialist, will assist individuals with career development opportunities that empower them to maintain stable employment and generate increased income.

Our second AmeriCorps member will serve as a Housing Search and Information Specialist, coming alongside individuals as they create a pathway to housing stability. Your efforts will instill hope, as you provide information, and assist with assessments, to address housing needs. With your assistance, individuals will be able to address housing barriers, locate affordable housing, and receive the coordinated services which will empower them for success.

Start date is October 10, 2016. The deadline to apply is Monday, August 1, 2016.
